On my journey from town to town today I took a different route. Well, I think it might have been worth it. Just west of the little town of Roann, Indiana is this neat little stream with the old Stockdale mill...I just had to stop.

Here are a couple for C&C please and thank you.

1.

2.

3.

4.

...on my way back up the trail to the truck I almost stepped on this fella. Now normally I would have screamed like a schoolgirl but this guy didn't move...until I got a few shots of him at least.

5.

6.

7.

Now I am NOT a fan of snakes at all, they are about the only creature that really creeps me out, so I have no idea what kind this is or whether or not it is dangerous. I was just happy that he decided to go the opposite direction. :)

In another post I mentioned having to abandon the ages old wisdom of minimum shutter speed while shooting a bird. Well this is the guy.

Another photographer told me there was a nesting pair of horned grebes at our local bird sanctuary. So I stopped by on my way to work yesterday and found them. He was diving to feed so the crest feathers aren't puffed up real well but still looks cool. Amazing difference in breeding plummage on the birds. You can see a comparison here.

By the time the sum came over the mountain and lit things up, he was on his way back to the nest to share the catch. So most of the well lit shots that I got were from the same side of the bird.
